How to Improve Your Business Website
Practical changes that make a website clearer, faster and easier for customers to act on.
Most business websites don't need a complete rebuild to perform better. Often the biggest gains come from making what's already there clearer and easier to use. Start by looking at your site the way a first-time visitor would.
Say what you do in the first few seconds
Visitors decide quickly whether they're in the right place. Your opening headline should describe what you offer and who it's for, in plain language. Clever slogans can come later; clarity comes first.
Make the next step obvious
Every page should have one primary action — booking a call, requesting a quote, making a purchase. Use the same wording consistently and place it where people naturally finish reading.
Check speed and mobile experience
A large share of visitors arrive on a phone. Test your site on a real device: can you read the text without zooming, tap buttons easily and fill in forms without frustration? Compress oversized images and remove scripts you no longer use.
Show evidence honestly
Photos of real work, clear descriptions of your process and genuine reviews build trust. Avoid vague claims; specific, verifiable detail is more persuasive.
- Use your own photography where possible
- Explain how working with you actually happens
- Keep contact details easy to find
